Ms. Starkey was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from Reuben S. Ayala High School located in Chino Hills California. Following graduation, she attended Citrus Community College where she was a member of the Citrus College Singers for three years. She subsequently transferred to California State University at Long Beach where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Psychology in 2002. Stephanie enlisted in the Active Army as a Military Police Soldier in November 2003 and was stationed in Fort Polk, LA. After deploying to Afghanistan from 2004-2005 with the 209th Military Police Company she attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA followed by Transportation Officer Basic Course in Fort Eustis, VA. Upon receiving her commission, she was stationed in Fort Hood, TX. While assigned to 7th Squadron 10th Cavalry Regiment her duties included Maintenance Platoon Leader, Battalion Maintenance Officer and Personnel Reset Officer. She was also temporarily attached to III Corps Executive Services where she served as a VIP Protocol Escort. Stephanie was deployed to Iraq, from 2008-2009 and then was resigned from active duty. Her awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. Stephanie resigned from the Army Reserve in November 2011 where she had served as Commander of the 557th Transportation Detachment in Springfield MO. She was a Distinguished Graduate at St. Mary’s University located in San Antonio TX where she earned her MA in Community Counseling in 2010.  Ms. Starkey joined the Springfield Vet Center in March 2010.  Prior to this, she interned at the Cobra Clinic in Camp Falcon Iraq and Springfield Counseling Services in Springfield MO
